DFI 5

Today was the highlight in learning how to construct a Google Site for learning. Making learning visible using a 'hook' to engage the student in learning is my favourite theme for student engagement and motivation, and how we should go about it. The 'Pedagogy and Kaupapa' that encompasses making teaching and learning visible.

Visibility enables accelerated shift through multi modal design for behavioural engagement and multi-textural design for cognitive engagement. A well thought out concept Manaiakalani & Fisher Woolfe et al.

The Google Site for reading seems a great way to plan using the spreadsheet, using main text, challenging text and additional support using a multi modal approach.

The implications for teaching and learning is the rewindable aspect where students can always have a place to source their learning. I liked looking at other multi-modal sites made available with their HTML code available as a place to start with.

  1. Kia ora Nogo. I can see how Google Sites would work really well in Tangaroa. It would be so cool to see how your students could create their own site. I wonder if they'd be able to do something that our tamariki would be able to use? As a way to hook in the tuākana/teina relationships we already have going?

  3. Kia ora Nogo,

It was great to connect with you last week - I love the look of the multi modal site you created. Can you change the link to the published site link? I love the way Kerry described the two components of multi textual and multi modal - what a great way to fully engage our learners!
Looking forward to connecting with you again.

  4. Kia ora Nogo,

Thanks for taking the time to share your reflection, it was nice to read as a comparison to my own learning. I agree with your comment about having rewindable learning, I too look forward to having this available for my students. I like the way you have presented your site using the multi modal layout, I think that is simple and engaging for the learners.

I look forward to following your journey,
    Rachel
